What is B.Ed?

Teaching is a noble profession. This profession is a favorite among students. You must be qualified to teach at the pre-nursery, nursery, primary, secondary, and senior school levels or as a professor at a college/university.

B.Ed is a bachelor's degree that allows you to teach in schools. B.Ed, also known as Bachelor of Education, does not count towards an undergraduate degree.

You must have graduated from a graduate program to be eligible for this course. The professional degree of B.Ed (or Bachelor of Education) is called a B.Ed. After completing the program, students can apply to teach school in their chosen field. Important to remember that students who wish to be senior secondary school teachers need to have completed a post-graduation education in order to pursue a B.Ed.

A typical B.Ed program lasts two years. Distance education is an option. Costs for a B.Ed program vary from one college to another. It is dependent on whether the college is public or private and how they are taught (regular/ distance). The majority of colleges charge B.Ed tuition fees ranging from Rs 20,000 up to Rs 1,00,000.


B.Ed Eligibility

  • Education Qualification To fulfill B.Ed eligibility, candidates must have a degree in any stream. This can include Arts, Science or Commerce. Many popular B.Ed colleges allow applicants to apply for admission to their B.Ed program if they have at least a bachelor's degree.
  • No Age Limit There is no age limit to apply for admission to B.Ed programs at most colleges. For admission to some B.Ed colleges, applicants must be at least 19 years of age.

Admission to B.Ed and Entrance Exams

Most colleges and universities use entrance exams to determine if they are eligible to enroll in B.Ed programs. Common entrance exams for B.Ed require applicants to attempt questions from at most two or three sections. The first section tests language proficiency.
